Training Facilitator

Ceilidh is a lifelong learner with a passion for sharing her "U for Useful" skills and knowledge with others to make the world a better place. She has a background in tertiary education administration, which strengthens her approach to structured course design and allows students to build their understanding and implementation in layers upon a strong foundation of learning. Ceilidh has also successfully run a small scale farm since 2007, so understands the achievements and challenges of managing a business and motivating employees. She firmly believes that the only silly question is the one you don't ask, and that everyone should learn from other people's mistakes, because life is too short to make them all yourself.

Regularly timetabled workshops during Victorian school terms

Designed for adults and operating at various times of day/week from the CIVILITAS studio space, these workshops offer a range of long form courses designed to run over a number of weeks to progressively build skills development in the topic area.

Single Day Workshops

Depending on the topic(s) covered, these workshops usually run from two hours in length, to a full day immersion and are aimed at adult learners. Workshops may be during the day or evening, on week days or weekends.

Multiple Day Workshops

The creative energy of the Flow State can be maximised over an immersive two or three day retreat into the studio to explore our innate creativity and how that can best be applied to the situations and challenges that face us as individuals, groups and businesses. Usually run over a weekend, these can be arranged at the CIVILITAS studio, or off site at a designated venue as required.

Online Learning

While the CIVILITAS preference is to focus on hands on (kinaesthetic) learning as we feel that best meets the needs of many of the topics that we cover, some of our offerings can be undertaken via online learning in an interactive, facilitated workshop.

Personal Development

Personal development is important, but it's rarely urgent because life is what's busy happening while we make other plans. So if you have been struggling with achieving change in your life, CIVILITAS offers facilitated accountability groups and 1:1 sessions in a range of areas to help you focus on what you want to improve.

Professional Development

Add a little razzle dazzle to your next business PD day with a creative workshop from CIVILITAS. As well as learning a new skill, your employees will have an opportunity to experience the Flow State, where the brain hemispheres synchronise, group energy merges and the true magic of interdependence happens!

We also offer 1:1 accountability sessions for employees needing to develop their communication, leadership, goal setting and time management skills in relation to performance management concerns.

CIVILITAS is a Latin word that means "CIVILISATION"

Civilisation and society are human concepts, designed and kept in place by mutual unconscious agreement of the population.

However, for many people, society is no longer offering a safe and happy living experience as the cost of living rises, and wages don't keep pace, mental health challenges are increasing and environmental crises weigh heavily on hearts and minds.

Being a human concept, civilisation (and our smaller scale societies and communities) can be redesigned to better reflect the needs of the local population, but this often requires a level of trust and communication that is not always possible between individuals at first glance.

CIVILITAS workshops are designed to cultivate interdependence via intelligently leveraging information, tools and skills that allow trust building on the personal and professional level so that, together, we can successfully be the change we want to see in the world, on whatever scale we want to operate.

Ready to start your learning journey?

Workshops are usually provided through registered Neighbourhood and Community Houses in Victoria, as public events in the dedicated CIVILITAS workshop space or at your premises for personal or professional development learning opportunities; however some workshops are suitable to run via online learning.

Testimonials

I just wanted to say how informative and useful I found the chainsaw workshop. Ceilidh was an excellent teacher - very good at explaining things in language we could all understand. She shared her experience and knowledge with us, and was more than happy to repeat things until we got it.

Thank you Ceilidh for an interesting and informative session about chainsaws. We have been cutting wood on our property for some years, but I still learned a lot today. Many thanks!

My 12 year old son and I attended the Safe Use and Maintenance of Chainsaws for Absolute Beginners course.  We'd had enough of standing around watching my husband collect firewood - and wanted to be able to safely join in the fun!

The day was great. I was unsure how my son would handle it - but he came away beaming from ear to ear, feeling proud of himself for being able to handle a chainsaw and with some firewood to bring home as proof of his efforts.  'It was much better than I expected' was his quote at the end of the day!!

Ceilidh ensured that we felt safe and confident to tackle what can be a daunting task - 'I'm not sure that Dad knows about the chain brake' was another quote from my son.  We were glad to have learnt what to do from an expert!
